“It’s our mission at the stadium to bring people together for unforgettable moments, and on this particular occasion, over 65,000 individuals came together to etch their mark in B.C. Place history. To meet this milestone in B.C. Place’s 40th anniversary year is both humbling and inspiring.”

Saturday night’s concert was the second Canadian stop in Sheeran’s 2023 Mathematics Tour. He performed in Toronto on June 17 and 18. His next concert is Sept. 9 in Nevada.

Sheeran also played an intimate theatre style gig at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre last Friday night to rave reviews.

B.C. Tourism Minister Lana Popham joined the chorus, saying the concert showcased Vancouver’s “welcoming spirit.”

“We’re grateful for artists like Ed Sheeran who contribute to our city’s vibrant cultural landscape and create memorable experiences for both locals and visitors,” she said in a news release. “Congratulations to both Ed Sheeran and B.C. Place for an incredible achievement”.

The success at B.C. Place came a week after a technical problem at Rogers Arena forced the postponement of a Drake concert.

There are four more concerts scheduled at B.C. Place for 2023: Beyoncé on Sept. 11, Coldplay on Sept. 22 and 23, and Guns N’ Roses on Oct. 16.
