Florida softball vs Texas final score: Gators run-ruled by No. 1 Texas in WCWS winner's bracket (2024)

Kevin Skiver,John LeuzziUSA TODAY NETWORK

Florida softball will face elimination from the Women's College World Series on Sunday, as the Gators were run-ruled by No. 1 Texas 10-0 on Saturday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.

A five-run first inning set the tone for the top-seeded Longhorns, who were too much for the No. 4 seed Gators to handle.

Keagan Rothrock drew the start again for the Gators, after a stellar outing on Thursday against Oklahoma State. However, she didn't last long on Saturday, as Gators coach Tim Walton removed his freshman ace after 14 pitches once Texas went up 2-0.

Ava Brown silenced Texas's lethal lineup across the second and third innings until the fourth, when the Gators' freshman pitcher found herself in trouble with two outs. The Longhorns would put another five-spot on Florida in the inning, coming off two home runs and a single.

The Gators struggled offensively all night against Longhorns pitcher Mac Morgan, who took a no-hitter into the fifth inning. Katie Kistler broke up the no-hitter with the Gators' first hit of the night as she singled into right field to lead off the inning.

Florida won't have much time to dwell on the loss, as it resumes play at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday against SEC foe No. 14 Alabama in the "loser's bracket" of the WCWS. A win against the Crimson Tide on Sunday will keep the Gators alive one more day, while a loss would put an end to Walton's squad chasing another national championship.

With that, read the recap of all score updates and highlights from the Gators' WCWS 10-0 loss to Texas:
