In a new exhibit from two Upstate artists, Bex Miller and Max Ramsey showcase art and experiences as trans individuals navigating the world. This exhibition is a celebration of community, personal stories, and the healing power of art. The eclectic and provocative collection includes photography, paintings, storytelling, poetry and more.
The show is a mixed/multimedia showcase of work, including a collaborative piece between Ramsey and Miller. The collaboration includes visual art from Ramsey and a poem from Miller, who will read the poem during the evening, and it will also be on display with the artwork.
During the artists' reception on June 22, from 6-9 p.m., original pieces, as well as large and small prints, will be available to purchase, along with raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses and artists. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the South Carolina Queer Arts Initiative.
Miller is a native of Upstate South Carolina, and has been making art in multiple forms for as long as they can remember. They attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts from 1991-93, and moved on to co*ker College to pursue creative writing and theater.
Ramsey is a visual artist whose passion for drawing was ignited at a young age, evolving into a means of self-expression and catharsis. Progressing through various levels of art education, including a transformative experience at the Greenville County Schools Fine Arts Center, he honed his craft and discovered a profound connection between art and mental health.
